Weekly Small Group Guides: STREAKS – Week 4

Big Idea of the Series: “Streak” will encourage your students to create routines that matter. On social media, a “streak” is when users are active for days in a row. Will we create “streaks” in our own pursuit of discipleship and sanctification?

Week 4 Bible Reference: 1 Peter 1:13-16

Topic: Continue to Grow

Big Idea of the Message: Spiritual growth calls for forward progress.(fall forward without fear)

Key Statement:

  • MS: The better I know God personally the better I can follow Him intimately.
  • HS: My present decisions will determine my future destination.

ICE BREAKER:  What are you afraid of?  Are you afraid to fail at anything?

Discussion Questions:

1 Peter 1:13

  • What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s verses?
  • Why is it so important to be careful about what we fill our minds with (information, thoughts)?

1 Peter 1:14-16

  • What does it mean that God is holy?  (perfect, cannot improve, amazing!!!!)
  • What does it mean for us to be holy?  (It doesn’t mean we have to be God, but it means we can be more like Him.  It’s a process that God alone can do in us the more we obey)
  • How can we be more disciplined in being “holy” this week?

Reminder: Encourage students to be patient.  The Holy Spirit is the one who “grows”.  ALSO, we should not fear the Lord being angry with us if we fail, we should fear what are life would look like without God.

  • We grow better together, Paul encouraged others with letters, we should encourage each other too.  Sharing what we know and asking questions about what we don’t.
